Good times in one of the nastiest places I have ever been;

“I smoke and my eyes were burning”

ride the bull

Monday, July 30, 2007

Thanks to everyone who came over for the party, I had a good time myself. It was great to see everyone. Mr. Jonny pantz’s bull ride made my night, maybe even my year! (Thank you mr. Jonny pantz, Brant, yours was pretty good also…)

Sunday was fairly uneventful; Melissa and I went up to Ocoee so I could play. More like get beaten down in hells hole. It was evident fairly quickly that “the mighty scurvy” is better suited for waves and not holes. I guess being that the boat was in a trash can when I found it makes performance "relative..." it could have been user error as well i guess… Oh well, after a few years of only being in a creek boat it safe to say you get a bit rusty. There was however someone up there who was maybe 14 years old throwing down! Pretty cool to see, he is easily one of the best out there.

Well this week looks pretty standard; today should be fine and tomorrow should be a bit busy but not bad. This week’s project list is short as of now:

Continue sanding and taking apart the scoot
Continue purging the shop of useless crap
Wash the car
finish RR2.0
Hummm… not much to do… I’m sure that will change

need a change

Wednesday, July 25, 2007

Last night i was able to get some stuff done, the LC is back up to it's fighting weight with a new radiator and breaks, the bus has a new clutch cable and i was able to get about a trash cans worth of crap moved out of the shop... After that i was doing a little surfing on scoot.net and noticed a large frame painted JUSTLIKEMINE! ARGGGGGG! We can;t have that now can we? So it's time for a new paint job, or lack there of maybe...

made with love

I got some new jeans yesterday. Regular Ralph canvas pants, by Nudie. Just as I expected, a perfect fit. I’m not sure why I like their (Nudie) pants so much, Maybe because they fit great and feel wonderful, maybe because I like being able to order my size and it actually fit, or maybe they are made with love by little old ladies who meet once and week hand stiching everything while sitting in a circle drinking tea and gossiping about the neighbors down the street… regardless I am again a satisfied customer.

bombs away

last night {sweet} Melissa and I drove down to country to see some friends, we had some fun with Randy's revenge and the original potato cannon that started it all. It was cool to see it still in action. I was able to get some good ideas from it, especially the idea of using a 1.5 inch pipe instead of the 2inch. It's a bit more expensive to shoot only potato's with a 2inch diameter.... enough about potato's, it was a fun night.

Not really much else aside from work. I am going to try and hit the projects hard tonight and get some stuff done. I need to finish the LC, mow the yard, and also get the gravel around the patio. I would also like to at least get the clutch peddle mechanism taken apart in bus tonight as well.

Yesterday i was looking for some stuff in the "shop" and noticed that space seems to be a growing problem. If i had to guess it's because i am some what of a pack rat and despite my internal desire for a simplistic life my internal hunter gatherer must be stronger. Now it's not fair to assume that i am a collector of crap, i have done fairly well in the past fixing up stuff and finding new homes for it, before i started working full time it was how the bills got paid. Unfortunately now time to piddle is all but abundant. Maybe the flip side is that now I'm forced to be efficient. Regardless if you know of anything i have that you want let me know. I'm thinking thinning down my flock of bikes, and boats.

river day

Sunday, July 22, 2007

Took the new canoe down the river with my pop today, it's a really nice boat! Much better than i thought it would be. It paddles great, turns smooth, has great secondary stability, and surfs like a champ; as usual we made a mockery of the gear clad geek squad... suckers. Aside from the trip, pretty much a standard Sunday.

This week should be busy, i think that there will be a fair amount of stuff going on at work (for better or worse.) The personal project list for the week is as follows:

-Finish replacing the radiator in the LC
-bleed the brakes in the LC
-re-gravel the perimeter of the patio
-mow the yard
-begin construction on "randy's revenge" 2.0
-rebuild the clutch mechanism in the bus

I'm sure that there is more, I'll post as necessary

Randy's Revenge

Saturday, July 21, 2007

Last night after work girly and i went out to Lowe's and purchased some plumbing supplies, then we ate din din and went back to the house. About 45 min of Justin time yielded this beauty. We are getting about 100 yards out of it right now; i can't wait for the geese to come back. The lake is an absolute perfect place to fire it, should have thought about this years ago....

15 years

Friday, July 20, 2007

Johnny gave me this frickin sweet sticker a few weeks ago, i have to say that this is easily the best kayaking sticker i have ever seen, and it might just be one of the best stickers ever made!

Speaking of paddling this July 31 marks my 15year kayaking anniversary.

Talk about some changes, my first boat was a wave sport micro X, Nick had some new wave boat that literaly did not have a name and another one of my buddies has a mirage; that is until dagger released the crossfire which he quickly purchased. Back in the glory days of paddling there were people who knew how to run rivers and waited till they learned how to roll before their first ocoee trip. It is pretty strange to see someone throw cartwheels then swim out of their boat in the same ride...

last weekend there were quite a few long boats out and was fortunate to see someone nail a pirouette in a t-canyon, old is new again, finally. Regardless it's more or less good for everyone that the sport has grown in popularity and it will be neat to see what the next 15 will bring.

The mighty what?

Thursday, July 19, 2007

Yes the mighty scurvy!!!! Where did it come from, only few know...

Actually a long time ago i was talking to a friend about what we would name a ship, naturally pirates came up. "The Mighty Scurvy" was a direct derivative of that conversation. It has in fact been directly associated with three (count'em) boats of mine. One, an early 90's Parana creek boat that i found in the trash and chopped and paddled down part of the ocoee two times. Two, a coleman ram-x canoe that leaks like a rusty bucket. And three, a dagger fx that i chopped 3inches out of, don't laugh, how do clean 720's sound. -shown above-

made some stuff

Yesterday after an Atlanta trip with the wife i finished up the ladder (v1.0) that i had been working on. All and all i think it turned out OK. I made it out of 1/2 inch conduit, it's galvanized (which sucks) but i set up some fans and adorned the trusty respirator. Ladder v 2.0 is in the works i have a few ideas how and make it a bit better.
