"do work!"

engine out, I've got my eye on the trans next. That sucka will be out by the weekend. Wheels, straight axles, new spring plates, and misc. gaskets and such will be here on Tuesday. In addition, that Harley exhaust is in the scrap pile, if you want some pipes speak up.....

well my mystery sickness seems to be going away, i feel absolutely exhausted still but better than yesterday so that is good. Work has been busy, and i have not really felt like doing anything outside; or inside for that matter. All projects are on hold, at least till i can catch up on some more sleep or it cools off a bit and being outside is not as brutal.

I ordered some wheels, they should be here next week some time, It will stink to not have a place to put them, but soon enough i guess. Once the beam gets here progress will hopefully be fast, I anticipate some snags seeing that i have to remove the ENTIRE drive train, but once all that old rusty crap is in the trashcan, it should be easy enough to replace everything.

all sick like

well the past few days have been relatively crappy... i had to go to school last night and also the hospital because of some sort of acid reflux, or swallowing a bee who was/ may have been swimming at the bottom of my Heineken bottle, i'm not sure. Regardless i am thankful that i have not had to spend much time talking to DR.'s

Before the incident (mentioned above) i was able to get some work done on the bus, I started to rip out the PO's "body work" and smooth the lower rockers out a bit. The correct way to go about fixing them would have been to just cut out the whole lower panel and replace it, but since there are places in the frame that will require patches, i figure might as well keep things in perspective. The lower section is going to look king of ugly, but again, we're talking perspective, right?

The new suspension is about a month away i figure, the beam trade went well and i should have a -4 adjustable beam w/ drop spindles and a straight axle kit all lined up. I have been looking for wheels, but so far no luck. I found some nice stock 15" but i really would like some aftermarket wheels (bling. bling?)

In preparation for the over hall i cleaned out the shop and tossed a bunch of stuff, like i mentioned earlier, if you want any of my crap now is the time to act. i was able to free up about a car and a 1/2 worth of space, It should be sufficient for ripping everything our from under the bus and replacing it. I would also like to paint the bus in the shop also, but over spray is a fairly big concern, and unless i can round up some sort of gigantic tarp i think i'm out of luck.

the hunt...

It’s to hot to do anything, I hate this time of year… I have wanted to get some stuff done on the bus and around the house but when it’s over 100 outside, no thanks. I guess there is not reason to complain though, fall will be here soon enough and cooler weather means camping and comfortable shop time; which I probably will be getting my fair share of here in a month or so.

I have begun the search for parts I will need to lower the bus, the front end should be easy… all I have to do is track down/ make a beam with adjusters and drop spindles. I have been thinking -4. This should allow me ample room to run pretty much what ever wheels I want, and look cool, I guess that is the important part. The rear has proven to be a little bit trickier. I want to run a strait axle kit, but talk about a headache getting everything figured out, what axles, what drums, flipping gears, exchanging bearings, geeeze… maybe when I get done messing with this thing I’ll have a clue as to what I’m doing.

300

Saturday, August 11, 2007

last night we saw 300... pretty good movie. It probably would be a bit better in the theater but worth the time i guess...

Looks like another hot day, the drive in to work was not that bad, thank God for the safari windows w/0 them I'm pretty sure i would be begging Melissa for a ride to work every morning! Driving my sisters car last week made me weak, that cold AC and comfortable leather seats; made me miss my truck. speaking of my truck i wonder where it is now, i can only guess although i sure it has some chrome wheels, flame stickers, and a large virgin Mary die-cut on the back window.

well car-talk is on, and i got things to do...

Well i hate summer, it's nasty hot. When Melissa and i were driving home from the river yesterday it was 102 outside, i don't know about you but that it just sick.

Same ol stuff going on this week, work is busy enough but nothing really going on aside from that. I have been trying to register for classes and that's a pain in the butt, i should have expected that; my time at utc can pretty much be summed up to "pain in the butt."

well better get back to work, this weekend i believe we are going to watch 300, i have heard it's good... now we will find out. I think I'll be paddling Sunday. fun stuff.

Faking the funk

Yesterday I put the scoot back together, I’m pretty happy with how it looks… better than I anticipated. I think I am going to give it a few weeks to “cure” before I clear coat it, which will be when I really find out if it worked the way I wanted it to…

Same old stuff this week, no projects on the list aside from getting the scooter running good again, switching from pipe to pipe is hard on the little guy.

Today has the potential to be a busy day… quite a bit going on here at work, hopefully it will go nice and smooth. Not really any plans for the weekend, tonight I am sure we will grab some food and hang out, tomorrow night the same and Sunday I am going to take the new boat down the river; I’m looking forward to that! The scooter is close to being reassembled, I still need to paint and sand a few more places, sand down the rear rack, put the headlight, glove-box, speedo, trim, wheels, exhaust, light, and a few other bits back on. I really need to get a new tire but I’m not sure when I’ll be able to grab one.

The recipe for waxoyl is as follows: (for those of you who were wondering)

WAXOYL

“Take a ½ kilogram of paraffin wax or candle making wax and grind it up with a cheese grater. Soak it in 2 liters of mineral spirits/ Paraffin/ Kerosene/ lamp oil/ Diesel until all of the wax is dissolved. It might take a couple of weeks. Stirring will cause most of the wax to dissolve, but soaking should take care of the rest, heating the mixture in hot water (no open flames) will add in the quick dissolving of the wax. Generally try to dissolve as much wax as the mineral spirits/ kerosene/ paraffin/lamp oil/ Diesel will hold. Pour one liter of mineral oil/ non-detergent motor oil into the dissolved mixture. If the mixture is too thick for spraying you can thin it further with more mineral spirits until it is of a spray-able consistency.”

This a.m. I got to hang around the house for a bit… we went to the store and got some food and then picked up some paint. I sprayed part of the scooter, one of the side panels turned out really bad (fish eyes) so it will need to be re-done but the rest looks good; still have to sand some here and there and paint a bit more but it’s coming along. Only time will tell if this works the way I hope it will, if it doesn’t…no loss.

for a day that i didn't think there would be much to do i sure am worn out. Last night i did some stuff out back, i wish i had heard my phone... apparently someone got to eat sushi...

Today i was able to get the new boat all outfitted and ready to go... I also pretty much got the scooter sanded down and cleaned up some stuff outside... Built new exhaust for the bus out of some Harley pipes... It sounds just about as good as it looks... "Ok..." I think i'll end up putting the stock muffler back on there, that empi "quiet pack" was a piece of c-r-a-p, and all ready had a hole in it.

Tonight i'm not really sure what I'll end up doing... probably going to get some food some place and maybe watching some TV. I would like to got to the hardware store and get some paint and a piece of 1.5inch pipe so i can finish the potato cannon but i don't know if that is in the cards.

well more tomorrow...
